What is The Mural Movement of New Lenox?
The Mural Movement of New Lenox is a community-based public art initiative dedicated to bringing color, creativity, and connection to schools and shared spaces throughout New Lenox, Illinois. Founded and led by artist Stacy E. Hunley, the movement aims to transform ordinary walls into vibrant works of art that reflect the unique spirit of each location.
Who is behind this project?
Stacy E. Hunley, a Chicago-based artist with a personal journey shaped by enduring and overcoming significant vision challenges, is the founder and lead artist of The Mural Movement of New Lenox. Her experiences have deepened her perspective, inspiring her to create meaningful and captivating work that uplifts and connects communities.
How is the project funded?
The Mural Movement of New Lenox is a fiscally sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts service organization. This sponsorship allows the project to accept tax-deductible donations, which go directly toward mural creation, materials, community events, and educational programming like student artist talks.
Are donations tax-deductible?
Yes. Contributions made payable to Fractured Atlas for the purposes of The Mural Movement of New Lenox are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. If you receive a reward in exchange for your donation, the fair market value of that reward will reduce the tax-deductible portion of your donation.
How can I donate?
Donations can be made through the project's fundraising page on Fractured Atlas:

What is the processing fee for donations?
Fractured Atlas assesses an 8% administrative fee on all donations. This fee covers administrative costs, including website maintenance, credit card processing, staff time, and bank fees. Donors have the option to cover this fee; if not, it will be subtracted from the project's revenue.
Will I be charged immediately when I donate?
Yes. Fractured Atlas will immediately charge the card entered at the time your donation is made.
What personal information will be shared if I donate?
Only your name will be shared publicly if you donate to this campaign. If you'd like to remain anonymous, you can indicate that when completing your payment information. Fundraisers will have access to your name and contact information unless you choose to remain anonymous to the fundraiser as well.
How can I get involved beyond donating?
Community members can support the movement by:
Offering wall spaces for future murals
Providing in-kind donations such as paint or services
Connecting the project with local businesses or organizations
Sharing information about the movement on social media
Participating in community events and educational programs
How are mural locations selected?
Each mural is site-specific and developed in collaboration with the people who use and love those spaces—especially students. The selection process involves identifying schools and community spaces that would benefit from a mural and working closely with decision-makers to ensure the artwork reflects the unique spirit of each location.
I know I can donate online, but is it possible to donate by check?

The murals created through The Mural Movement of New Lenox are charitable and public in nature, funded through donations, grants, and community support. Because of this, they cannot serve as advertisements or include promotional branding. However, I do take on private commissions for homes or businesses outside of this initiative. These projects are priced at my standard mural rates, and I’d love to collaborate with you on a design that fits your space and story.
